Valentine’s Ball 2010

chuf val1DSC00240On Saturday 13th February 2010, CHUF staged their Valentine’s Ball at the Assembly Rooms, Newcastle upon Tyne. Could there have been a better day to have a Charity ball, bringing together parents of heart babies, toddlers, teenagers and adults. Of course it wasn’t just the parents but also the surgeons, doctors, consultants, nurses and other essential staff involved with the everyday running of the Children’s Heart Unit at the Freeman who attended.

Everyone looked stunning on the night that began with an emotional solo performance from Scott Rutherford, a young heart transplant patient

Parent Gillian Andersen then spoke about her experience of CHUF and how it helped Martha, her little girl with a number of medical issues. CHUF provided much needed support to Martha with her everyday tasks during and after her heart transplant. This was in the form of equipment and medical support funded from your much appreciated donations.

Everyone then enjoyed a fantastic 3 course dinner during which raffle tickets were sold for over 100 prizes and a grand prize of a luxury hamper which was drawn by Dr. Richard Kirk.

There was great response before the ball for prizes and everyone gave very generously to the raffle and the auction. The Jack Morgan Duo entertained with swing music that got everyone up and dancing. It was a fabulous success but would not have been possible without everyone who attended. If you attended then thank you helping to raise a fantastic amount of money for a great cause.

Our very grateful thanks go to Claire Mooney, Gillian Andersen, Lorraine and John Embleton, Nicola Whinham, Paul and Anna Bannister for their time given, leading up to the ball and on the night. A Grateful thank you to the Auctioneer, Ian and Wayne from  the Jack Morgan Duo, the photographers and all the staff at the Assembly Rooms. We were also entertained by the fabulous Balloon Brothers with their very inventive creations

There were donations made to the Valentine’s Ball by Synergy Health Care, The Daily Mirror, Venture Portraits, Prontaprint North Shields and The Assembly Rooms.  Thank you to all the companies and friends of CHUF for their kind contributions to the evening. The total amount raised on the night was a superb £7,780.90
