25th January 2018 marks the 10 year anniversary for Christina’s Son Rhys’ major open heart surgery.

In 2017 Christina Charlton started the year nervously signing up for the Great North Run, wanting to do more, she come up with other fundraising ideas to help raise funds for CHUF. Christina began by giving out upcycled jars to 8 different households to collect 10p’s throughout the year, once word quickly spread, more people wanted to join in and before she knew it, had approximately 50 households saving their 10p’s (potentially creating a North East shortage!)

Since then Christina, family & friends have come up with so many other fundraising ideas from selling outgrown clothes, toys and competition prizes, holding a Lego character draw, a girly prosecco and cake afternoon with pre-loved clothes for donations, a grand raffle, a rum tasting night (The Great North Rum!), a sponsored cycle, a bonus ball draw, cake sales, wooden Christmas ornament sales (made by her very talented father-in-law) and not forgetting the Great North Run which she ran with her best friend Rachel Jobson in just 2 hours 43minutes! Wow!

Christina and family didn’t stop there, they also organised a fantastic red themed New Year’s Eve Party for CHUF to mark the end of an incredible fundraising 2017, completely smashing their original £1,000 target and reaching £4,000!
