At Chuf, we know that the transplant journey doesn’t end with surgery. It can be emotional, life-changing and, at times, overwhelming, for both patients and their families.
We’re proud to share the Transplant Café, delivered by The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for patients under the care of the Freeman Hospital. Transplant Cafe Advert (5) Feb 2026
This welcoming online space brings together those waiting for or living with a heart or lung transplant, as well as patients who have undergone a VAD procedure. It offers a safe, supportive environment to reflect, share experiences and connect with others who truly understand. Carers are warmly welcome too.
The café takes place online on the first Wednesday of each month at 2pm (with no café in August), and in-person sessions are held at the Freeman twice a year. click here for dates and times – Transplant Cafe Advert 2026 dates

At Chuf, we believe no family should face their heart journey alone and initiatives like Transplant Café help ensure support continues long after discharge.
